While taking photo clients, some moms wanted photos of themselves nursing. I found myself witnessing intimate moments in intimate spaces. If I see a mother nursing in public, I don't stare. However, during my shoots, it's my job to watch. I started to photograph mothers who would let me document their nursing sessions. I noticed that with each nursing session, the baby wanted to hold something (usually the mother's finger) and the look of content after nursing was consistent. I began to look for three things: 1 - Does the baby hold something and what is it? 2 - What does the baby look like after nursing 3 - What space does the mother choose for nursing and how does it transform home?
